Andrea Mertz, DDS
Dr. Andrea Mertz graduated from Farmington High School in 1982. She attended Michigan State University for one year and transferred to the University of Michigan-Dearborn Campus to complete her undergraduate studies in psychology. She worked throughout her undergraduate studies as a dental assistant. Dr. Mertz graduated in 1990 from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in the top quarter of her class. Upon graduation, she was selected into a general practice residency program at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinic (1990-1991). Dr. Mertz stayed on staff at the UIHC, completing a fellowship program in July of 1992. Dr. Andrea Mertz joined her father-in-law, Dr. Donald Mertz, as an associate for the following five years. She then began purchase of the practice while Dr. Donald Mertz eased into retirement.
Dr. Andrea Mertz is one of a select group of dentists nationwide to become a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.). To reach this achievement, Dr. Mertz completed an extensive written exam and a minimum of 500 hours of continuing dental education. In order to maintain membership in the FAGD, Dr. Mertz must complete additional credit hours beyond what is required for dentists. Dr. Mertz is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Saginaw Valley District and Saginaw County Dental Society.
Dr. Andrea Mertz enjoys spending time with her husband, James, three daughters and extended family at their cottage up north. In addition, she loves to read, cook, ski, walk her dog, and watch her five grandchildren grow. She is an active member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and a member of a small group Bible Study.
Chelsea Bricker, DMD
Dr. Chelsea Bricker joined Mertz Family Dentistry in June 2019 and is the third generation of dentists in the Mertz family. She graduated from Frankenmuth High School in 2011 and Alma College in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. She then went on to Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine and received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in May 2019. Dr. Bricker is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Bricker lives in Saginaw with her husband, Jon Bricker, whom also works in Saginaw, as the Operations Manager at Aeromotion by Textron Aviation. They enjoy spending time with their three young daughters and are actively involved in their local church.
